On The Joy Of Bikes & Craft Of Renovation: Friday 3 June, 19.00 - 21.00
Brian Perkins created the Bicycle Hub website dedicated to the restoration of classic bicycles, especially the innovative small wheeled revolution in cycling known as the Moulton, after its inventor Alex Moulton who also helped design the Mini. Brian will talk about its history, born of concerns about oil at the time of the Suez crisis in the 1950s, and give people a taste of the lost art of wheel building.

June Simms has been stitching for over twenty-five years, combining traditional technique with a more contemporary, freeform approach. She’ll be explaining her work and leading a lesson in setting your stitching free. Come and join us to explore drawing pictures with fabric as you soak in the history of sewing-craft.

Paloma Gormley and Lettice Drake work on small-scale projects where each is an experiment in design and construction. Often teams of volunteers work with the cheapest, most immediately available and usable materials. Tonight we will be making chairs for the Parlour, before sitting to hear from Paloma and Lettice on the joy they find in re-shaping the world.
